Moodle hack

Hide without hiding - Use Stealth mode to clean up those course pages

Stealth mode hides an activity from the course page while still keeping it available to learners — great for organising course materials without adding clutter.

How to use it (make sure this is enabled at the site level):

  1. Open the settings for any activity or resource.
  2. Under Common module settings, set Availability to “Make available but don’t show on course page.”
  3. Save and link to it from anywhere in your course.

Result: A cleaner, calmer course page, with everything still available to learners.

Learning in the wild

Authentic assessments for real humans.

This month’s find from The Learning Scientists explores authentic assessments — tasks that mirror real-world skills instead of tests. In a world shaped by AI, these kinds of assessments help learners show what they truly understand and can do (and they’re usually a lot more fun than a test).
